I was at Lansdowne on Monday... I live very close....and and didn't see the Royals because of the crowds. I was on Wellington near the Centotaph on Tuesday and did see them. There was plenty of security in both places, but most of it was quite discrete and, as you describe, walk a block away and normal daily life went on.
Any USian should thank their stars for having Canada -such a fine example and guiding star- to their north. This was such a pleasure to read. So I too will say, Merci, Sylvie Lamoureux !
I loved reading this. I live in South Ottawa and could picture all the little details you included that made your day come alive with the King visiting that day. Thanks for the reminder of what a great city Ottawa is and how magnificent our country Canada is. May it always be strong and free, indeed!
Heartwarming to read your observations on a very Canadian drive on a peaceful May morning. Thank you for sharing the numerous things you observed that make our country so special and worthy of our care.

O’ Canada, we love you, just for being you. 🥹🍁
yup - nothing like jumping on a bike and heading over to catch a glimpse of the royals - so low key!
Perfect, Sylvie. Low key, kind, welcoming to all whether royalty or refugees - this is what we value. Thank you.

Love this, Sylvie. The simple joy of being Canadian. Extraordinary in our ordinariness. 😉
I am so proud to be Canadian, always have been but even more so now!
Thanks for finding the words and images that reflect much of what we love about our country.
Oh you made me miss Ottawa! Beautiful.
You nailed it, Sylvie. Nothing ordinary about being a Canadian. Brava!
